By Zachary Kalk ’20 | President
Fellow Heorotians, The class of 2019 is enjoying its final spring term before graduation. They have done a great job for our house and have been incredible leaders and mentors for the underclassmen, especially those who are transitioning into leadership roles as the new Chi Heorot officers. This is especially important in the presence of a continued crackdown on the entire Greek system by the administration.
The newly appointed slate of officers includes Zachary Kalk as president, Michael Calamari and Brendan Caltavuturo as Alpha and Beta vice presidents, Jesse Scanlon, Clay Kirwood, and Austen Michel as social chairs, Clay Han as treasurer, Dean Shatzer as houseman, Henry Stusnick as brotherhood/philanthropy chair, and Blake Crossing as new member educator. These new officers are all keen to take on these new roles and build on what previous leadership has taught us.
We plan to keep Heorot on the rise and out of trouble while making this a safe and enjoyable space for all of campus. Many Heorotians have also been honored with leadership roles outside of XH. For men’s hockey, Kevin Kilistoff was chosen as captain and Connor Yau and Carl Hesler as assistants. The hockey team had another solid year, finishing fifth in the ECAC and earning home ice advantage in another first round playoff series win.
On the diamond, senior baseball captains Matt Feinstein and Cole O’Connor are hoping to lead the baseball team to another strong year and deep run into the Ivy League playoff tournament.
On the slopes, new member Drew Duffy was a first team All-American, Nick Krause won the NorAm overall GS title, and fellow Heorotians helped the men’s alpine ski team win the overall title at the NCAA championships.
Soccer fifth year seniors Jonny Nierenberg and Yima Asom captained alongside seniors Justin Donawa and Noah Paravicini to another year ranked as the top Ivy team in the nation.
With so many role models in the house, we are confident that their guidance will help the rising seniors enhance the thriving culture within Chi Heorot.
